As I was waking up to get ready to start my morning commute from Downtown Los Angeles to Long Beach State University, my brother was frantic and watching the news. I saw the first building on fire. I didn’t have time to comprehend what was going on and the second plane had not yet hit. I thought it was a freak plane accident and headed to my 9:30 a.m. class. It was at the train station where I heard that the buildings went down. It was on campus where I heard it was a series of commercial airliners that had crashed. It was clear that we were under attack. There was no class that day. I went to my friend’s apartment and a group of us saw that horrible footage for the first time. Surreal.
