It was a day ill never forget. I’m an excavator operator and I was working about 8 blocks away digging a foundation for a new building going up.

I was sitting in my machine having my morning coffee enjoying the great weather. All of a sudden I see people running by. I stepped out in to the street and look up and see the building burning. My sister works in the WTC but at the time I wasn’t sure which building she was working in. I started running towards the WTC. I got to about 2 blocks and couldn’t go any further. I stayed there the whole time watching people jump out of windows and praying that none of them was my sister. I stayed there for 4 days digging by hand and with the excavator. And the whole time I was there I kept calling home to see if anybody heard from my sister. And learning that she still hasn’t come home I couldn’t leave the site knowing that she was still there. But after 4 days I was forced to leave. My sister never made it out.
