I remember that morning clearly. I was in English class when my teacher Mrs. Bumgarner was summoned to the door by another teacher. She was in tears when she came back in and went to turn on the classroom television. The first thing I remember seeing was the Twin Towers on fire. I was confused until the teacher explained to us that there was a terrorist attack going on. We just sat there in silence as she continued to cry. School continued after that, but everyone was clearly disturbed. Later on in the day news surfaced that the towers had collapsed. I didn’t know how to feel, but I knew we were probably going to war. My brother was in the Marines at the time, and I really didn’t want him to be put in harm’s way. He eventually did get sent to Iraq in 2004, but he made it back safely. All I know is that 9/11 will remain etched in my mind forever.
