I will never forget 9/11. The moment that I learned of the incident, I was sitting in my first period class. The guidance counselor came into the room and informed us that a plane had hit the WTC. We turned on the TV, and we all pretty much thought it was a joke. The thought that was running through most of our minds was how anyone wouldn’t be able to see a building that large in order to not hit it. We realized that it was no mistake once we saw the second plane hit the other building. We all left the classroom solemn and quiet, really startled and confused, to switch classes. During that brief time, the Pentagon was hit. I was really scared. What was happening to my country? At this point, I was wondering what else the day would hold..would there be more attacks? I was worried about my father, who was in the hospital recovering from a surgery he had just had. The rest of the school day, I just sat and quietly watched the TV screen, too dumbfounded to even comprehend what was taking place. Everywhere was shutting down, and it was truly a horrifying day. But the spirit of America never shut down. God be with those who lost someone in the attacks.
