I am from India. I was 12 years old at that time. I saw the events unfold live on BBC news. It was so terrifying. Something that you could imagine to witness only in the movies. That was the first time I had learnt about the word terrorism.
I was so deeply affected by the events. I remember the very next day the newspaper had it as a cover story. I took the first page of the paper and pinned on the notice board of my class in school. I really donot know how many of my classmates or teachers paid attention to it, but I really wanted them to be aware of this heinious crime against humanity.
As a kid all that I associated with this event was terror & fear. However as the years have passed by, I have read a lot about the events, survivor stories, watched many documentaries and it has changed my perspective. As quoted by someone “I have witnessed incredible courage, outpouring of human kindness and fierce solidarity: and that is
what will be remembered, along with the thousands of lives lost”. I truly salute the American spirit.
