I don’t think my story will be very interesting. But here it is. On September 11, 2001, I was at work, like most of us were, typing my morning report as I did every morning. Of course I was chatting with some friends here and there. One of them sent me a message letting me know a plane had crashed at one of the towers and then e-mailed me a picture. I tried searching all the news sites on the web, but it was impossible to connect to any. I spread the news through the office and we soon connected a television in one of the conference rooms. The site of the towers in flames was horrifying. The following events and reality of the intentions behind this act were heart breaking. I could only think of the people involved, their fears and sorrow. My story is not any different than that of other Americans, but soon enough, I too became part of the ripple effect the events of that day have taken. My company restructured my program and our funds were cut. I will be unemployed as of January 1, 2002. (Way to start off the year ha?) I was very worried, at first. Now, I know that things happen for a reason and I will not be alone. I, and thousands of other people in the same situation, will be able to take this opportunity to start a new way of life. Many new opportunities are now available, and I will make the most of them. This time will allow for many to break from the routing and find new ways to lead the way. I’m still scared, but I am confident that I am a part something great and that we will all have our chance to shine. =)
