I had just been diagnosed with Salmonella food poisoning on September 10th and was stuck home feeling sick as a dog to start that week anyway. I believe it was a Tuesday because I remember going to the doctor Monday evening and was told I had to let my illness “run” its course. I woke up early (I live on the West Coast in California) and my husband told me that a plane just hit one of the World Trade Center towers. Like most, I am sure, we thought it was a horrific accident and we prayed. After that, we watched as a second plane hit the other tower and realized that this was no accident. We wondered what was next. It was a horrible day. As I sat on the couch because I was so sick to do anything else, I realized just how easy I had it, even with food poisoning!

We prayed for the families, the victims, our country and our President. This was all so unknown to us and in my lifetime, this has never happened so we didn’t know what was to come. I thank God for George Bush for not being cowardly and proving that he is not afraid to handle this conflict and important task of battling terrorism of EVERY kind head on. God bless this nation. I do hope we return to God as a nation or else I fear we will fall far from grace like other great nations in history.
