At about 9 a.m. EST on the morning of Sept. 11, 2001, two of my friends had just awakened me to cook me breakfast. Today was my 21st birthday. Little did we know of the events that were taking place at that time. I found out later from a phone call from my roommate’s mother what had happened. I was in shock. Campus was very quiet that day, and most people did not even go to class. My best friend was born on the 4th of July. Now we say that the country was first united on her birthday, and re-united on mine. If there is one thing I can do for the country that I love, it is to give up my birthday to the rememberance of heros that reflect what all of us should be!
