9/11 will always be remembered by me because of where I was on that day.

I was sitting in a 9-1-1 certification class at my state’s criminal justice academy, we had all joked with the instructor that it was the perfect day to do our training because of the date. when the terrorist struck We were in class and were notified a short time later of what had happened. Several televisions were set up around the academy and we would constantly check them.

Being 150 miles from home and family was the toughest part for me but the six of us in the class made the decision to stay and finish the certification. Even though the academy closed for the day there were eight people who stayed there that night. We all gathered in a confernce room to watch television for most of the evening eating our meals together and talking in quiet tones. We needed to be with someone that night. We were dispatchers and law enforcement officers from all over our state, mostly strangers to each other, but that night we needed to be together.

The strange part of being in 9-1-1 class on 9-11 and what those numnerals will always mean will be part of me fore ever.
