The day of September 10th, 2001 was just an ordinary day. My husband and I went to the hospital because we were scheduled to have labor induced. I was 1 week overdue. The doctors induced me at noon that Monday. It wasn’t until that night that the labor and contractions started. The next morning we woke up and the labor was getting heavier. We turned on the TV because of rumors that something terrible had happened. Well, when we turned on the TV we found out that they weren’t rumors but actually a terrible thing had happened. A terrorist attack on America. I really didn’t know what to think. Here I was in the hospital having a baby and there was a scare in the world. I just kept thinking ‘I hope we are safe here.’ It was terrifying. Later that afternoon at 4:41 p.m. we had our baby girl. That brought some joy into our lives with everything that had happened. And to make it even more interesting, on the anniversary, September 11, 2002 we had our second child. He wasn’t due until the 17th but on the morning of the 11th my contractions were getting a little closer. We went to the hospital to get checked out and see if this was the real deal. And sure enough, at 9:55 p.m. we had our baby boy. Talk about making that a day to remember.
