I was unemployed at the time. I had an interview that next morning for my local school district but had to call to find out the time. My alarm went off at 7:30 PST. I almost hit snooze but decided to get my day started anyway. The phone rang (which was strange at that time of day for me) a good friend of mine was on the phone. “Are you watching TV?” No “Hey Jaye” or “How’s it going?” Just “Are you watching TV?” “No,” I told him I just woke up” “Turn it on, we’ve been hit.” Being a bit of a nerd and conspiracy theorist myself I was really confused by what he said. I turned on the TV. I was glued the rest of the day to that damn screen. Like a bad dream I couldn’t avoid. I still can’t see those images. I may only be in California…but that day my eyes were in New York and that image burns forever in my eyes.
