I was on vacation at the Jersey shore with my parents and brother. We all went out to breakfast at the Culinary Gardens. As we were finishing our meal, we overheard people on the other side of the dining room saying something about an airplane hitting a penthouse in New York. When my dad went up to pay the bill, the hostess told him that a plane had crashed into the World Trade Center. At the time we thought it was just an accident. The man at the table behind us turned around and told us another plane had also crashed into the Pentagon. On the way back to our hotel we heard on the radio about the second plane hitting the other tower. Our plans for the day went by the wayside as we watched CNN all day long. We saw one (or maybe both, I can’t remember) of the towers collapse live on TV. I screamed and my mother started crying. My dad and brother just stared in disbelief. Later in the afternoon we turned the TV off because we couldn’t stand to watch them reply the collapse footage anymore.
