I was in the fourth grade and at school. At one point they gathered the entire school into the auditorium. As you could imagine, us kids were all confused and I even remember that there was a rumor going around that a tower was bombed and that some kids whose class was on the fifth floor had seen smoke coming from the towers. In groups kids were pulled into the hall where parents were waiting to take them home and it wasn’t until my mother picked me up that I found out what was truly going on. As we walked home my mother tried to explain to me what had happened and broke down as she acknowledged that my aunt worked in the office of blue cross blue shield located in one of the towers. For hours we waited to hear from my aunt until finally at night we got a call from my grandparents that she had gotten home safe, completely traumatized but safe. Its crazy how a day that started out so normal would end up changing our lives forever.
