September 11th occured on the 2nd day of my 2nd semester of nursing school. I remember one of the clinical professors (Sandy) walking into the classroom, with a look of disbelief on her face. Sandy told us a plane had hit the World Trade Center, like much of America we thought what a horrible accidient. I remember taking a break from class, we were watching the news covered from the hospital lobby, like many of you we watched the 2nd plane hit the towers on TV. After everyone realized this was an attack on our country, the hospital was placed on a lock down, even as students we were told we couldnt leave. Hours later the lock down was lifted and the University called off classes, I remember driving home, all of the roads leading to the Federal buildings had were barricaded, all the streets to downtown were closed. In that short drive to the expressway I realized we were truly at war.
