At 8:47, 2 minutes after the bell rang for the first period class, we were tuning our televisions to the morning announcements, when we were flicking through. We were turning the TV through channels and we stopped on Good Morning America as they did a panoramic view of the New York City skyline before a commercial break. That was when we saw the first airplane crash into the World Trade Center. My teacher contacted our principal who issued an all call to all of the classroooms to turn their televisions to either ABC or CBS to watch what is going on.
That day, there was no classroom instruction. Our homework was to sit in front of the television to watch all updates of the terrorist attack and listen to what President Bush had to say in the aftermath. That day is still engraved in my mind.
