The title of this story was chosen simply because that is the most vivid memory that I will carry with me of the events which occurred on 9/11/2001. I was in my office working that morning when an employee came through the front door and said, “turn on the TV, I just heard on the radio that a plane has crashed into the World Trade Center.” Immediately, our entire office went into the conference and turned on the television. 15 people looked on in amazement as smoke billowed out of this mammoth high rise. The commentators we discussing what little they knew at that point and showing cut aways to scenes on the ground below and pull back shots from across the NY skyline. Within moments another object appeared in the frame.

My immediate comment was, “Hey Look! Here Comes Another One!” Kiddingly making this statement in hopes of lifting the gravity which had been set upon us watching this tragedy before us. To mine and everyone else’s horror, the object came into full view as the small spot on the screen took the form of another large aircraft which came barrelling into the second tower. The reaction from all was immediate and overwhelming fear. At that moment we knew that this was no accident. At that moment we knew that our lives would be changed forever. At that moment we knew, for the first time, that we as American citizens were vulnerable in our own backyard. At that moment, I knew America was no longer what it had always been.
