It was the 11th of September, Vancouver, BC Canada… the morning I was sleeping when I received a phone call from my boyfriend at the time. He called to tell me not to go to work at the airport that day…I asked him why and he said that there was a airplane crash…I told him that it was not a funny joke. I got up, went to the t.v and then I saw the 2nd tower had just gotten hit…with my own eyes I saw this. I phoned my work and they said that we had to go since I work Airport Security. I got there for my shift and it was so quiet ….

That day the YVR had 34 planes grounded and it was a tough day. Us(security), customs and the RCMP had to get together and become a team. We worked endless, just plain hard work. The sad part of it is that none of the passengers knew what was going in NY at the time.

As the long day was ending you could see all the people watch the available t.v screens, crowds of dozens of people. Tears running down their faces, reporters everywhere….

Since the 11th, the airport has changed and our lives has also changed.
