I swore into the Naval Reserve on 16 August 2001 and had just completed my first drill weekend when the morning of 9-11 hit. As the chaos and horror were blaring over our radios in the office where I work, the idea came to me that the nature of my enlistment could be vastly different than what I had anticipated coming in. For several days I heard comments along the lines of “You sure picked a fine time to join the military” but I would like to say that I have never regretted my decision for one minute of any day. My naval career has certainly been put on what I would call a fast track, as I am being considered for promotion to Petty Officer Second Class already;if I ever do get mobilized, I will thank God for giving me this honor to serve my country
