I remember being at work the morning of Sept 11th. I had just come back from the break room where I had refilled my coffee mug. I had a radio on my desk and it was playing music in the background. After the song was over, the deejay came on and said that a plane had crashed into the WTC. My initial thought was that it was a small commuter plane, then some of my co-workers who had had their radios on as well filled in with more details as they came to us. There is a federal building and a federal bank each within a block from where I work. I remember looking out the window at the federal bank and seeing a man on the roof looking south towards the federal building. I thot, “OMG, something’s going to happen to the fed building”, but fortunately my fears were wrong. They dismissed us from work about 11 or 11:30 EDT that day. I went home and watched along with the rest of America the horror unfold.
