I was 15 and in the 10th grade at a Catholic all-girls school. I was in study hall writing a paper for a religion class. I can’t remember the exact topic but it was definitely something about why people do the terrible things that they do. It’s kind of a weird topic for a religion class but looking back it was totally fitting considering the events that took place that day. I thought it was a mistake at first, I figured a plane just crashed by accident. When the 2nd tower went down I knew, we all knew, that it was a deliberate attack on our country. However, the full impact of what was happening didn’t hit me until I was older. Im now in my mid-20s and I cried this past Saturday as I watched footage of the attack and documentaries on 9/11. It’s the exact day that all United States citizens can pinpoint as the day when the supposed veil of safety was lifted from all of us. We are no safer than anyone else. We have enemies. Nothing was the same after that day.
