When I was 4 years old, and my 5th birthday was around the corner, this event happened.

It was a normal day, bright, sunny, and as any other young child would do, go to their babysitter.

I was just minding my business, playing with some other kids. And the sitter’s phone rang. I don’t know what the person on the other line said, but immediately she turned on ABC News, and I saw the terrifying images that have been burned into my mind for 9 years, and will continue to forever.

I saw the North Tower in smoke. As being 4 years old, when you see a building on fire, you expect the firemen to put it out and everything will be okay. Not today. I couldn’t really comprehend what I was seeing, but all I could understand that something wasn’t right as seen on the sitter’s and older children’s faces.

When the South Tower fell, I still couldn’t understand what was happening, but there were screams in the room. Likewise when the North Tower fell.

I had Kindergarten in the afternoon, and was confused, but not complaining, that I didn’t have school that day. I can’t remember much after the North Tower’s collapse other than that I went home during the afternoon, and the day ended as any other day had for me.

Even the youngest must bear witness.
Being 14 and seeing these images now still brings me to tears as I have full comprehension and understanding as to what happened on that day.
