I’m an assistant teacher in Tennessee, and I was at school on 9/11/01. I remember thinking that it was going to be pretty much like any other day at school.

I remember I was in the library when I learned of what happened. I was using one computer, and Jennifer (our school counselor) was using the computer on my left. I think I was working on something that had to be turned in to one off the assistant principals later that day. Mr. Hardin came in, sat down between the two of us, and said, “Ladies, we’ve been hit.” I remember thinking, “Fool..what are you talking about? How do you mean that we’ve been hit?”

I must have had a confused look on my face becuase Mr. Hardin then said, ” a plane hit one of the Twin Towers in New York.” From where I was sitting, I could look into Mrs. Jones'(our school librarian) side office. She had her TV on, and the “Today” show was still on. I got up to go watch, and it was at that moment I learned that a second plane had hit. Not much later, the Pentagon was hit.

Two and a half years later, I can’t tell you if I ever got that stuff done to be turned in or not.
