I was at work for the Coast Guard. I am an Avionics Technician at Air Station Detroit. I was checking my email when a coworker came in and said “hey, someone flew into the WTC” first thing i did was click on yahoo and I still remember what it said..one sentence—

“it has been reportd that a plane has crashed into the World Trade Center”.

Then a minute later they came in and said ANOTHER plane had crashed into the other tower.I ran over the the dayroom and all the pilots, mechs, and rescue swimmers were in there watching CNN.

it was totally surreal UNTIL flying the next night…We wear Nightvision goggles and you can see anticollision lights on planes all over the place on an average night… but there was not one other plane in the sky. when we got back I went home, put all my belongings away, and went outside to stare into the sky.
