I was a freshman in High School and I was in my computer applications class when the principal came over the loud speaker. She announced to the school that there had been an an apparent terrorist attack on a densly populated part of our country. Every classroom in our school is equipped with computers and internet connections, so within a short time everyone knew what had happened. When I saw it was an attack on the WTC my heart dropped to my stomach… My Dad worked on the 25th floor and 2 of my uncles are members of NYFD. A short time after that, I was taken to my moms work, one of the middle schools in our town. Upon arriving I heard the good news, my Dad had walked across the bridge and made a call home from a friends. My sister, who had just driven home from college relayed the message to my mom. I was fortunate.. all my family members were ok. However, a close friend to the family as well as one of my uncles brothers (also a firefighter) died in the attack. It was the longest, scariest, most upsetting day of my life. And I ask of Everyone, DO NOT FORGET this day or it’s heroes–NYPD, NYFD, EMT, Port Authority and all others! God Bless America
