It was Tuesday, I dreaded Tuesday’s because I had a heavy class load on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s. I was awake by 7:30am and in the process of getting my book-bag together when my room-mate David calls my name from the living room of our dorm. I remember walking into the living room where the TV was on and looking at David’s face.The look on his face spoke volumes. I looked at the TV and saw one of the Twin Towers on fire. At first it didn’t register, was this a fire? A bomb? That’s when David says “A plane just hit the f***ing tower!!” I remember looking at him like he was crazy and than we stared glued to the TV screen. The phone rings and it’s my fraternity brothers wondering where I’m at. That’s when the second plane hit. No words can describe the feeling I had when I saw that. That day seems like a blur now. But at the same time, I can still remember everything that happened. The entire university I attend was brought together in a bond we will never forget. That December I travelled to Virginia to visit my sister and I remember, sitting on the plane as we climbed to 30,000ft, just how those poor souls on the planes that hit the buildings must have felt knowing they were about to die. I have had some nightmares following that horrible day but,all in all, it has been an experience that has solidified my belief in this great nation and all it stands for.
