Lived in NY on 9.11.01?: No
Knew someone who perished?: No

At the time, I was 7 years old and first heard of the attacks at school. Children were telling this crazy story about planes flying into a building but none of them realized the gravity of what had happened that day. A great deal of the story going round wasn’t true and it wasn’t until I had gotten home that my parents explained what happened in New York.
Even though I was very young at the time, the news really hit me hard. I would instantly relate to the people who lost their mother, father or other loved ones.
The 2nd of September 2001, my 2nd grade teacher had us talk about the attacks and helped every single one of us express how we were feeling about the loss of so many lives at once. We held a moment of silence in class and repeated that on the playground, this time with the entire school. I had to cry, like most of my classmates and my teacher. I will never fully understand how men are capable of committing such crimes whatever their motives may have been.
