I was in grade school, first grade to be exact. This day changed my life and left me with a fear to this day I will never shake.

Everything was operating normally that morning, then towards the afternoon I remember we all had to gather into the Gymnasium. They set up all of tables we had available and we were told to sit under them. At this point I didn’t know what was happening but I knew everyone was scared, I remember hearing a teacher say that because our school was in the shape of a cross (I attended a large catholic school in South Jersey), We weren’t far from NYC and everyone was fearful the school would be targeted. We ended up leaving school early that day and closed for some time. The remainder of the year was spent preparing for events like this on our school.

To this day whenever I hear a plane fly over wherever I am, I always remember the fear I felt that day thinking it may crash. Flying on a plane leaves me hysterical. My heart aches beyond comprehension for those who lost and broken from 9-11. NEVER FORGET!
