My husband and I had fallen asleep camping out with our kids in the living room. I woke up and turned the tv on and the first thing I saw was I believe the first plane flying in on the news. I woke my husband up to show him what was going on and all he did was jump up put his uniform on and take off for work. The phones were ringing off of the hook. Cell and house phone. Everyone wanted to know if my husband was going to be sent to war. My husband was a military recruiter at that time. I knew as well as he did that I probably wouldn’t be seeing him any time soon for supper. He said that right after all of what was going on aired people were showing up out of nowhere wanting to join the military. Those that had retired wanted back in and new recruits were in a hurry to go. There are only 24 hours in a day and when that happened to us. When it happened to America it felt like time had stopped. I felt my heart drop. I had never been so afraid for my husband to leave as I was then.

WE WILL NEVER FORGET
