On this unforgetable day in the history of our United States I became aware of only the planes hitting the towers just before the 450 elementary students entered the school at which I taught 4th grade. We had been told that the hits on the towers were acts of terrorists, nothing more, and not to mention this act in anyway to the students we faced that day in our classrooms. It was an almost surreal day with my mind often wandering and wishing I had information on what was happening outside my classroom, outside the school I was at, outside our city of Milwaukee, WI. TV’s were not allowed on that day within the school when students were around and since I was with the students full day, even lunch hour, I had no knowledge of what had been going on that day until I drove home.
