I produce a radio morning show and we always have the TV on in the studio. We had just finished a contest, when I pointed at the TV because there was a picture of a fire at the WTC. I instantly remembered that a few weeks earlier some nut had landed a balloon on the Statue of Liberty, so I thought this was probably something similar. Minutes later while we were LIVE on the air the second plane hit, and we did the play by play. The next hour moved in slow motion. I remember EVERY story pulled from news wire that hour, faster than I could print them. It really hit me when the Urgent came down that the FAA had grounded ALL US air traffic. I had never heard of that before, and then a story that quoted one person as saying, “People are dying in here” (at the WTC). I then knew this was something I couldn’t believe.
