9/11 after my first day of first grade, is one of my first memories of Elementary school. I vaguely remember a teacher from next door telling something to my teacher, and she turning on the TV. As first graders we thought it was cool we could watch TV instead of learn, until our teacher explained how a plane had hit a building in New York. I remember some kids beginning to cry and scream at how they have family who lives in New York, and the teacher assuring them how probably not in this area. I remember watching the TV and not really understanding what was going on and thinking i was watching some type of war or some other unimportant thing. It never crossed my mind how these images were in the same New York i had been in and the same building i had been in (but not gone up because of the lines)just eight months earlier. We them were sent to the cafeteria and all waited for our parents. One picked up i remember my mom listening on the radio and just kept saying i cant believe it.
