I remember September 11 better than any other day in my memory. The day started off like normal, I was 6 years old at the time and in first grade. School had been going on for about 2 hours when someone from the main office came to my classroom and called my teacher out into the hall. When my teacher came back into the classroom she said that something bad had happened in New York city and she was going to get a tv. She came back and set up the tv for us to see live coverage of the towers burning. Later in my life I figured out that the people in the main office heard about the second plane hitting and had went down the halls to notify the teachers just a few short minutes after the second plane hit. When we were watching the news it was showing the video of the two buildings burning and I was very confused about what was happening and why someone would fly two planes into the building. We continued watching until the first tower fell, then the second tower. I remember my teacher saying that the day will be very important in history because of all the people that had died. Looking back I am very happy that my teacher showed us video of the towers because it made such a big impact on me once I could comprehend what happened and why. To have the mental image made a big difference rather than just being told.
