On Vacation in Key West, FL. that week with my boyfriend, we figured we should get away for a while, to sit back and relax….WRONG!! That horrible morning about 8:50, he turned on the TV to catch the score to the Giants game the night before, and he caught a shocking surprise instead. As he elbowed me and shouted “Wake up, Wake up” I really wish I never did. I felt my heart stop. I felt as if I was on another planet so far from earth, so far from home, but most of all so far from myself. I wouldn’t of minded crawling under a rock forever, just so I could avoid what was in store for the rest of our lives.
No flights resulting in having to drive home to New Jersey, which wasn’t any better now knowing on what I was coming home to. A family of hurt and frustration due to losing a family member. Still, more than 9 months later, there is no change. This will haunt us for the rest of our lives. Me at least.
I don’t think I ever found out the score to that Giants game the night before.
