Somehow it stuck with me

Lived in NY on 9.11.01?: No
Knew someone who perished?: No

I was at home watching my favourite movie of all time (that was just a coincidence), when my mom came in and said “turn the TV on”, and so I flipped it to to our public broadcast channel. And at first I had no idea what was going on except panic in New York.
I kept hoping people were safe and someone could figure out what was going on. Even some of the news reporters kept saying it was something out of a James Bond film.
After that I’ve been thinking why I remember that exact time and place so vividly. Maybe it’s all the actions that have been caused by it. Maybe it’s the wish that nobody should have to experience this. Maybe it’s the hypocricy and horrible acts of war that came after it.
But still, it’s a memory that a young man from Northern Europe, far from NY or Washington DC, will always remember..
