I can remember 9/11 like it was yesterday. I remember that the day be for I had gotten into a big fight with my parents. On September 11th I got up and got ready for school like always. During 5th period I overheard some teachers talking saying that they can’t believe something like this happened. After I heard this I asked around to see what happened because none of the teachers would tell us. I finally found someone who had been listening to the radio on their headphones and they told me. I felt sick to my stomach. I was scared to death. I remember going up to use the pay phone at school and calling my older sister to make sure this really happened. She said yes. She worked in Boston and said that she was coming home because all major cities were being evacuated. I was scared. I live in Abington, MA, and a man died on one of the planes that lived in Abington. It’s truly sad. The next day we lit candles and sat outside my house. I cried. It is so sad to see that something this horrible could bring the nation together but at least it’s working. It’s also weird, from a 16-year-old’s point of view because no one my age has really lived through something like this before. This will be in our kids’ history book someday.

Now every time I see something on TV that has to do with 9/11, a documentary or a memorial, I cry. It’s just so sad. I am so proud of our country for not letting our guard down. My sympathy goes out to all that was lost and has lost. God bless the USA!
