I had just finished a First Aid class at Ohio University-Zanesville in S.E. Ohio, and I went to computer lab. I was surfing the net or something and I heard some guys talking about a plane crashing into one of the WTC buildings. I thought they were full of crap. Well, it peaked my interest and I tried accessing all the major news sites, CNN, FOX, and the like. I couldn’t get onto any of them. At this point, someone rolled a TV into the adjoining lobby and I got up to see what was what. I saw the first tower on fire. I freaked and ran to a payphone to call my folks and my fiance. It took about 10 minutes to get through to my folks, and about the same amount of time to get to my fiance. Well, I left school and drove to my fiance’s in rural McConnelsville, Ohio. When I got there, it was a ghost town and it was about 11 or so, but really it could have been earlier..I cant remember. Anyway, I do remember that the towers fell while I was on my way, and that the military had sent fighters out to look for any other errant craft. I think i heard something about the pentagon on the drive..I just remember the fear and anger I felt. I knew…i mean I KNEW THIS was done against us. It was such a personal attack to me, and to those who were actually there that day I mean no disrespect, but It was as if someone through a brick in your front window and got away. This is our country, MY country. Oh, I didnt go back to school that week…the eeriest week on record for me that is. So sad. In the months after, I sought employment to help my nation recover and defend itself against such attacks. Eventually, I was part of the original rollout of Transportation Security Officers, in Louisville, KY. Yes, if you look back up, you will realize I moved over 250 miles, brought a pregnant wife, and everything I owned here to work with TSA. I serve my country here, when I couldn’t have elsewhere. I love my country even more after that day. I hope you all do the same
