On 9/11 2001 I was 19 years old pursuing a career as a pilot and working ground operations for an airline based in Denver,CO . I remember hearing a aircraft had hit the World Trade Center. Having been a pilot for a couple of years at that point I instantly knew it was NO accident! After watching the events unfold and feeling a pain in my core that I had never felt before, the rest of that day became a blur . All flights were ordered out of the air and we found ourselves parking aircraft and “deplaning” passengers from airlines that did’nt even fly into Denver. When I came home that day to my emty apartment, glued to the news like everyone else I got MAD and frustrated . I felt there was nothing I could do. A couple of months later after sitting, thinking and dwelling I just couldnt take inaction anymore. I decided I would join the Marine Corp. I put in my notice at work and spoke with a Marine recruiter. A week later I found myself at putting my life into a storage warehouse, testing, clearing meps and starting basic. Since then I’ve been deployed twice to Iraq once in 2004-2005 ( Fallujah specifically) and again in 2007. Lost some good friends and great Marines along the way. I’m out now with a family and a good job. That day changed the course of my life forever and I would’nt change anything about my decision to serve and fight I’m just honered to have done it really. I belive we absolutly live in the greatest nation on earth .
