9/11 was on a Tuesday morning. I remember it like it was this morning. I was a recycle truck driver supervisor. I lived in Columbus Ohio. My route was about 35 miles outside of Columbus and on average, it took me and my co-workers 6 1/2 to 7 hours to collect the recycle in the whole area of that county. Yeah, we started at 7 am and we were done at 1:30 pm- 2 pm. and headed back to Columbus. When we first heard the report, the first thing my drivers said was “Mrs.Parker, this is an act of terrorism. It took us from 7 am until 9 pm because we were so in-tuned to the radio, that we weren’t thinking about the time, how long we were at work or even our own families because we were grieving for all of the victims of this horrible, horrible s senseless tragedy. This was truly THE LONGEST DAY OF MY LIFE.
