I remember being in my kindergarten classroom that morning when our class was interrupted multiple times by other school teachers and workers who seemed concerned. They ended up sending us home early shortly after the news broke of what had happened, yet they did not tell us why we were going home. My parents were not home at the time so my grandmother came to pick up my brother and I at the school and taking us back to her house. She had the news playing in her bedroom and we were all nervous but too young to understand the severity of the situation at hand. Living in Connecticut, only about an hour from the city everyone was afraid that there were going to be more planes coming, at that point we didn’t know it was a terrorist attack so the atmosphere was definitely tense. A girl who grew up in the town next to me as well as a college friend, lost their fathers in the towers.
