Lived in NY on 9.11.01?: No
Knew someone who perished?: No

On 9.11 I was visiting with my daughter an oldest european salt mine in Wieliczka, Poland (Europe)

Wieliczka is magnificent place 150 m below the surface. After 5 hours trip we moved to the exit. It was 15.10 of local time.

We waited in line more than 15 minutes for a lift with a group of scouts from USA. One of them wanted call home to talk with his parents living in N.Y. He tried more than 10 times and was very surprised there is no connection to USA. At the same time I called to my wife. I was surprised that I was able to make a call. She told me about airplane crash in N.Y.

At 15.40 we took our lift to the surface.

In the Tourist Hall I saw a bunch of people looking to live coverage of CNN News: “WTC tower in fire” “War” “Terrorist attack on USA” “Pentagon knocked down”

People were petrified, some of them silently cried.
I’ll never forget a 8 years old scout watching his hometown in fire – alone and far from home.
