Lived in NY on 9.11.01?: No
Knew someone who perished?: No

I was dispatching long haul trucks and some of my drivers lived in the NY/NJ area. I remember we had monitors with the network news in our area, and we all stood in front of them shocked. I recall when the second plane struck I felt the tears and said out loud “We’re at war” A co-worker heard me and said she couldnt believe we would go to war. It must be some mistake. I was scared for my all the people I knew would perish and their families. Then I thought about my son, who was in the military and worried how that would affect him. Selfish, I know. My drivers started calling in asking if I knew anything about what was happening. All I could do was repeat what I’d heard on the news. They were all in a panic and wanted to get home. Against my supervisors wishes, I told them to be careful getting home and check in when they could. Thank God their families were safe. Since that day, I’ve become much more grateful for my family and the men and women in the military who put their lives in danger every day so we can have religious freedom in this country. God Bless America
