The morning of September 11th, 2001 my mother and me were on our way to meet up with my grandfather in Connellsville, PA to take me to Pittsburgh, PA so I could take a test in the Civil Service State Building. We were enjoying a mother daughter conversation as we usually do when we’re driving, but that was about to end. My mother had called my grandma to make sure my grandpap was on his way to my aunts office to pick us up. My grandma had this panick voice to her while telling my mom for the first time that ” The World Was Coming To An End.” a plane has struck into one of the Twin Towers.

Shocked I hurried and changed to the radio station to find information by that time we heard another plane has struck the 2nd Twin Tower and one into the Pentagon. With a thousand emotions wondering through our minds and hearts we arrived at my aunts office. Everyone was in a state of shock, not knowing what was going on or what would happen next. I had just started dating my current boyfriend 9 days before and without thinking twice I needed to get ahold of him to have that little bit peace in my heart be filled, but I couldnt get ahold of him, the cell phones were shut off because of the over use of them. I was terrifed now what if something happen down his way ( By Pittsburgh ) I finally did reach him and he was ok, but things werent ok. My aunt received a call a plane has just went down in Shanksville, PA only 45minz from were we where. It was getting closer to home.

Not knowing what to do we called the Civil Service Building and asked if we should still come down or what. The man told us if we didn’t feel safe not to and they would reschdule. I remember hearing him say ” Your scared, Im terrified being here.” All we knew was to get home and be with our loved ones. Im so lucky and blessed not to have had any loved ones hurt in this terrible act, but theres not a day that goes that I dont think about the Wives, Husbands, Children, Mothers, Fathers, Grandmothers, Grandfathers, Brothers, Sisters, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and Friends that lost someone on this day of terror. My prays and thoughts go out to all the families and friends. REMEMBER OUR HEROES ON 9-11-01 and GOD BLESS OUR LAND OF FREE.
