Lived in NY on 9.11.01?: No
Knew someone who perished?: No

Well, 9/11 started out like any other day. I went to school, and things were all pretty sane, until around ten o’ clock. I live in Illinois, and we heard about it pretty late, I suppose. Well, anyways, I was in the weight room, lifting when one of my friends told me about it, and I didn’t believe him! He told me, “Man, my cousin works in the WTC!” I didn’t take it as anything bad, I figured it was just something people were saying. I got out of the weight room, and I met up with my girlfriend, and she asked me, “Did you hear what happened?” I said, “No, about what?” “The World Trade Center was attacked, and one of them has collapsed!” I stood there in disbelief, because I never in my wildest dreams thought something this catastrophic would happen in my lifetime. The rest of the day went on like it was nothing, in my classes in school at least, in which I thought was weird. I later found out that the Pentagon was also struck. When I got home, there were rumors flying that the Sears tower might be hit too, and I thought about my girlfriends sister, she works near there, I hoped she was fine. Nothing but news was on when I went inside. I watched the first plane hit…I thought, “Oh my god! I can’t believe that this actually happened!!” It looked like something out of a movie. The plane didn’t even look real! Around this time in my life, I’d been going through a lot of panic attacks, and having problems with anxiety, and then with all of that stuff going on just added onto it. I worried about it for days and days on end, hoping that nothing else like this would happen. I love this country. I would like to prevent something like this in the future, and I hope we get more justice than we have for it all.
