I was just getting ready to leave for work. My fiancee and I had had an argument that morning, about what I can’t even remember now. When my fiancee came out of the shower she told me that she had heard on the radio that two planes crashed into the Twin Towers. I quickly turned on the news and was utterly shocked. Just weeks before I had been in New York and seen the familiar and almost comforting NYC skyline with the Towers as it’s center piece. I called home to make sure my aunt, a legal secretary who works in Manhattan, was okay. On my way to work, the news was still pouring in, a plane had crashed into the Pentagon and another in a field in South Central Pennsylvania, just a few hours from where I live. Once at work all eyes were on the news. It was amazing, like time just stood still. It was unreal.
