Hi there, my name is Karen, I am from Ontario, Canada. On September 11, 2001 I do remember where I was.
At the time, I was taking a Chef course in another town near me. Our chef who is from France, kept the students informed about what had just happened. The owners of this location heard about it on the news, the computer and the television. It hit us all hard.
The class was made up of a variety of ethnic backgrounds. Lets just say, there wasn’t a dry eye in the class. We had noticed the Chef walked in and out of the class, each time getting upset. Finally, the Chef told us to pack up and go home. He had tears running down his checks.
When I got home, I turned on my television to the CNN channel. I watched it hour-to-hour, day-to-day. I have no one from New York, or that were in the Twin Towers. But, I was in tears, the sadness hit my heart. My children who at the time were 6 3/4 and, 3 years of age, could not understand why this man had done this.
To this day, I have watched the shows about that horrific day and, I find it is still fresh, the tears, the sadness in my heart. I feel for all the FDNYs, the police, the families who have lost a loved one, especially the children who have lost a father or a mother, a niece, a nephew. I wish I could be there to help, to give a shoulder to cry on. The only thing I can do is, just to share this story with the world. God Bless America!
