On September 11, 2001, I was in the sixth grade. It hadn’t been 10 minutes after the second period tardy bell rang, when a teacher from across the hall came in and said “turn on the television, you wont believe what’s happened!”. So my teacher turned on the television. The whole room got quiet as we watched the towers up in smoke. After the first tower fell, one or two of the kids started to freak. The rest of us, along with the two teachers, just stared at the television in awe. We didn’t know what to think, or what to say. We couldn’t believe what was going on. The school was put under lock-down after the Pentagon was hit (I’m assuming because we have an airport type place where the president’s landed before, and that works on military planes and what not–never did figure that out). Here it is, five years later. I’m a junior in highschool, and I still remember that day like it had just happened. I was scared for a long time after that, and I was sad for everyone who lost someone close to them. And every year, the same feelings come back. It’s still hard to believe that this really happened to our country and our people. It still seems just so unreal…
