On September 11, 2001 I was with my husband on an interstate in Virginia when we heard that a plane had flown into the trade center. We thought we had heard wrong, we hadn’t. Then we heard that another plane had hit and there was an attack on the pentagon as well. My father works at the State Department and it was late that afternoon before we were able to hear from him. As hard as it was to worry about him, I cannot imagine the worry that families of the Trade Center victims went through. I have been involved with emergency medical services for ten years and I have to say that the heroism and humanity of not just the EMS and firefighters, but of all people, from all over, put an incredibly huge feeling of pride into my heart. My husband drives an 18-wheeler and has flown an american flag on his rig ever since the 11th. I would just like to express my sympathies to all the families and wish them peace. A famous quote once said “We will not go quietly into this good night…” and we certaintly did not. God Bless.
